On December 15, 2014 we launched the Employees Only twitter feed (feel free to follow us on Twitter if you aren’t already). A quick look at our metrics include 93 tweets to date, 48 followers (this # typically fluctuates up and down as we gain or lose followers) and we’ve received over 1600 impressions during the last 28 days. We probably aren’t setting the Twitterverse on fire or breaking any kind of records however the price is right for Twitter (it is free to sign-up). That being said, here is a quick listing of some of the techniques we have tried to gain followers and earn social “credits” (ex. re-tweets, favorites and mentions).
- Include images in your posts
- It never hurts to ask – As you tweet to your followers or to individuals, ask for a RT
- RT good content! Your followers might appreciate the good content and a RT which will earn you impressions.
- As you gain followers, send them a quick Thank You Tweet (as noted in point 1, use images…..below is our custom Twitter Thank You image)
- It never hurts to ask part II – Reach out to other Twitter followers within your industry and/or target market and ask for a follow in return. When we do this, we promise to provide good content.
- Within your posts, don’t forget to use hashtags (this allows your post to show up within the Search Twitter Results for that hashtag
- Utilize a URL shortening service such as bit.ly. Not only will you save characters in your post by not displaying a long URL but you will also see how many clicks you generated
- Take advantage of services such as AddThis and ShareThis are free. AddThis a website widget you can include on your website for users to easily follow you on Twitter (and other social media channels). ShareThis is a widget that you can use on your website and allows users to easily share your site on Twitter (and other social media channels).
- Embed into your website your own Twitter feed. This way, your users can see your twitter feed within your website. More information is located here. You can see an example of how we have done by visiting our Learn More page. Below is the actual Twitter feed for reference.
If you have any ideas on how to grow Twitter followers or how to promote your Twitter page, we could love to know. Leave us a comment or Contact Us.
